If you’ve ever wanted your front porch to smile back at you, this is it. These sweet little frog porch leaners are the perfect mix of farmhouse charm, soft florals, and just the right amount of whimsy. And honestly… who can resist a happy frog welcoming you home?! 🐸
These frogs came from our froggy meadow collection and here’s how I brought these cuties to life!
What I Used
- Wood planks (tall + mini for a matching set!)
- Neutral paint (white/cream for that soft washed look) Cotton from Dixie Belle
- Stain Charred Hickory
- Froggy Meadows rub-on transfers
- Wood bead wreath from Dollar Tree
- Pre-made “Welcome” wording that I painted Black
- Ribbon + floral embellishments
- Glue + Clear coat flat
Step-by-Step
1. Add Warmth with some Stain
I stained the sides of the boards with voodoo gel stain to frame everything nicely. This little detail makes SUCH a difference and really makes the design pop. I mask it up with a bit of painters tape, stain the edges and then pull off the painters tape.
2. Rustic Base
I gave my wood planks a quick dry brush coat of a cotton chalk mineral paint , then lightly dry brush distressed it with a mix of stain and the cotton paint create a natural wood look. We’re going for cozy farmhouse vibes—not perfection!
3. Apply the Transfers
This is where it all comes together! Waiting overnight till it was completely dry I was ready for the transfer steps. I placed my frog + floral rub-on transfers onto the boards and gently rubbed them on.
Watching them stick while you pull off the transfer is honestly the most satisfying part—like instant artwork! Just take your time and if it doesn't stick put it back down and rub some more.
4. Paint the “Welcome” Piece
I attached a wood bead wreath near the top and layered my “Welcome” word right in the center. It adds texture and makes the whole piece feel extra special. Available if you need one just email me at sales@diysupplies.ca
5. Seal It Up
I sealed everything to protect the design—especially important if your porch gets a bit of weather!
6. Add the Finishing Touches
A soft bow + a little floral detail on the wreath = farmhouse style.
It ties everything together and gives it that handmade, nice look.
